Shaw Names Bradshaw to Eco-Post

Dalton, Ga. – Shaw Industries has appointed John Bradshaw to the newly created position of environmental marketing manager — a move made to aid the company's restart of the Evergreen nylon recycling facility and the collection of post-consumer carpet to supply it.
Bradshaw has spent the past 18 years of his career with Shaw. He first joined the company in 1992 through the Salem acquisition. Since then, he has spent much time developing its Sherwin Williams business, and the past six years working with the Shaw Flooring Alliance program.
In his new post, Bradshaw's initial focus will be to assist in developing an efficient network to collect post-consumer carpet to supply the company's Evergreen recycling facility in Augusta, Ga.
“John will work closely with our marketing groups and our collection team as Shaw becomes the first flooring manufacturer to take post-consumer carpet and convert it back into nylon to go into new carpet,” said Scott Sandlin, vp of residential marketing. “As we progress, John will assist us in developing and communicating our environmental leadership message for the field organization. His experience in helping to establish our Shaw Flooring Alliance makes him an ideal choice for this new position.”
The company noted that the Evergreen process is expected to save an amount of energy equivalent to 16 million gallons of gasoline annually, compared to virgin nylon production, and it will also reduce the amount of virgin crude oil used to make Shaw's “EcoSolution.”
