Halston to try on textiles for size
Marvin Lazaro -- Home Textiles Today, July 15, 2002
The well-known Halston label seen predominantly on women's clothing and at perfume and fragrance counters is coming to to the world of home textiles, thanks to a new licensing agreement between Halston and Design Textiles International USA (DTIUSA).
According to the agreement, the Charlotte, NC-based DTIUSA will manufacture top-of-bed, towels, bath accessories, shower curtains, decorative pillows, throws, decorative window coverings, place mats and napkins, as well as outdoor furniture. While the license became effective on May 1, Halston expects to have product shipped to its first specialty customers in August. The company, which also is targeting department stores and home catalogs, attributed the quick turnaround to work done before the transaction was finalized.
"We are pleased to have DTIUSA join the Halston family, and we look forward to seeing Halston literally become a household name," said James Ammeen, president and ceo of Halston LLC.
Said Richard Allen, ceo of DTIUSA, "We are excited about this new partnership with Halston. We feel this is an opportune time for this prestigious name to enter the better home market."
