Salmela to launch new pillow line

Los Angeles - Designer Kim Salmela will introduce a 60-sku collection of decorative pillows during High Point Market later this week.
The group was produced through a licensing eal with New Jersey-based pillow and textiles company Design Accents. Salmela has broken the line into four collections: Deco, Amber Palace, Tribal Chic and Modern Masculine.
Techniques used in the collection include mixing natural matte linens with luxe details, accenting black and white with brass, using oversized motifs and using painted watercolor techniques.
The beaded and embroidered pillows will retail for between $100 and $250.
"I am always influenced by fashion, and there is no other home product more than pillows that allows a designer to incorporate and translate current fashion trends. As I was watching the red carpet events the past few months, I kept noticing how many of the dresses looked like some of the pillows I had designed for this premier collection," said Salmela.
Salmela moved into a new design and production facility near Culver City in Los Angeles at the beginning of 2013 where she is manufacturing her upholstered furniture line.
At High Point, Salmela will be showing in a new booth on the ground floor in the Suites at Market Square, Space G-7018 Salon.
