Seasonal drives Dollar General July

Goodlettsville, TN — Dollar General said this morning its July sales came in at the high end of expectations, boosted by healthy seasonal sales. The small-format retailer said comparable stores recorded a 4.9 gain in sales. It earlier said a gain of 3-to-5 percent was likely.
Chainwide sales for the month rose to $494.1 million, a pick-up of 13.8 percent overall.
