JLA hires Kerr; opening dec fabrics mill

FREMONT , Calif. — George Kerr has joined JLA Home in dual capacities.

The company, a $150 million China-based producer of home textiles products, is expanding and will open a decorative fabrics mill to serve the decorative jobber and furniture manufacturing channels.

The decorative fabrics division will launch its first line in July or October, said Edmund Jin, principal of the company, based here. "We don’t want to spread ourselves too thin."

Kerr is the executive vice president of the manufactured product division, with responsibilities for product development and is president of the decorative fabrics division, where he is responsible for product development in jacquards and dobbies, according to Jin.

The decorative fabric business "is a natural extension for us," said Jin "and we hope to build it to a sizable business in three to five years."
