GLM Adds Textiles-Friendly Marketing Hook
March 26, 2007-- Home Textiles Today,
Trade show organizer George Little Management has registered to trademark the name "The New York Home Textiles Market Week." The name will be used as a marketing handle to coincide with its New York International Gift Fair for the home textiles manufacturers who show at the Javits Center and nearby Piers as well as in showrooms in 7 W. 34th Street and 230 Fifth Avenue during the event.
The colloquial expression "market week" — until recently a term for the showroom-based event for home textiles suppliers targeting volume retailers — was dropped by the Home Fashions Products Association (HFPA) earlier this year in favor of "New York Home Fashions Market."
Home textiles suppliers that target both volume and independent specialty retailers traditionally open their showrooms for both the GLM event and the HPFA market.
The New York Home Textiles Market Week will open Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7 W; Saturday Aug. 9 at 230 Fifth Avenue, segueing with the conclusion of the New York Home Fashions Market. The term will extend to the opening of the Gift Fair on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Jacob Javits Center/Piers. The event ends Thursday, Aug. 16 in all three venues simultaneously with the conclusion of the Gift Fair. For information, call GLM at (914) 421-3322.
The New York Home Fashions Market, sponsored by HFPA, will run Monday, Aug. 6 to Friday, Aug. 10. Several home textiles showrooms in the 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 West 34th St. buildings will be open for this week. For information, contact Carolynn Jennings, HFPA executive director, at (212) 297-2122.
