828 International is adding new designs to two of its more popular existing collections — Greenville and Laguna.

Named for 828's headquarter city, the Greenville collection comprises one-million-point heat-set polypropylene rugs. Colors and designs are updated transitional and made to go in casual settings.The Laguna collection, machine made of 100% heat-set polypropylene, is durable and long-lasting thanks to its study construction. Its point-on-point construction is coupled with a drop-stitch effect for a hand-carved look. These rugs are made in Belgium.

Capel has created several new soft contemporary and transitional styles in fresh palettes. Collections include the reversible Essex collection, the modern-patterned Graphique collection, the updated braid Tweed Square grouping and the handcrafted Josette and Persian Trace collections.

New licensed collections for the markets include the bordered Capel Anywhere Pacific View collection from Jane Seymour, the architecturally inspired Orchard House from Biltmore For Your Home, and the indoor-outdoor collections from Williamsburg, including the brightly hued Abby's Garden and the Asian-inspired Finesse-Kimono Flower.

In the same vein, the Bob Timberlake Burl design is a new addition to the Karma Naturals collection that features a stylized interpretation of burled wood.

The company is concentrating on its domestically made offerings for market. The Interlude collection has been updated with a new palette and several new transitional and traditional designs. These rugs are made of 100% polypropylene and are all woven at the company's own manufacturing facility in Maine. A 5-by-8 is set to retail for $149.

Also new is the Shadows collection of 100% polypropylene machine woven rugs made in the United States. The collection features a dense but soft pile with extensive double pointing and drop stitching for added texture. The palette consists primarily of earth tones. A 5-by-8 is set to retail for $199.

The company is re-introducing several of its collections. The licensed collection with Sunbrella employs the brand's high-end and sturdy outdoor fabrics in colorful styles. Natural fiber products, including all-wool rugs, will also be shown. Among them is Ridgevale and Sheer Natural, both of them groupings that target the higher tier of the market.

The company is highlighting three new collections as well as showing about two dozen new additions to popular existing collections.

The new collections include: Everest, a one million-point power-loomed grouping made of 100% heat-set Courtron poypropylene in Belgium; Impressions, which uses a blend of 70% New Zealand semi-worsted wool and 30% Tibetan wool with viscose accents and is hand-knotted in India in an Indo-Nepalese weave; and Covington, a 100% Courtron polypropylene hand-hooked grouping that is water repellant and weather resistant for use outdoors.

Home Comfort is expanding its Jellybean collection of machine-washable hand-hooked accent rugs with many new indoor/outdoor styles. The company worked with various artists, including Vicky Howard, Julie Euland, Fredda Brennan and Julie Ingleman, to create some of the new designs for the polypropylene-and-acrylic blended rugs. New patterns include Flora and Fauna by Howard, Sandy Starfish by Euland, Flower Garden by Flores, Celadon Garden by Brennan and Pesca Del Sol by Ingleman.

Hand-hooked in China, all Jellybean rugs are made using 35% recycled materials. A 22-inch-by-34-inch is set to retail for $29.99.

From sister company Homefires come three new "Countrypolitan" sunflower-themed styles by three different artists: Sunflowers in Bandana Pot by Jennifer Brinley; Sunflowers on Black by Laura Elgey; and Sunflower Basket by Angela Anderson.

Like Home Comfort's Jellybean pieces, Homefires rugs are machine washable and hand hooked of acrylic fibers. A 22-by-34 is set to retail for $39.99.

The new Poeme collection of 100% hand-spun wool hand-tufted rugs feature transitional designs that draw inspiration from antique European tapestries. One example is Corsica, an updated take on traditional damask look. Jaipur employed simplified patterns and different scales and combined them with warm palettes to create this Poeme rug design.

The Blue collection comprises hand-tufted rugs made of 100% handspun wool. Its new Petal Pusher design is a boldly scaled floral with a contemporary twist and a punch of color.

The new Woven Impressions collection encompasses transitional looks interpreted in three tonal designs — Woven Ikat, Diamond Ikat and Beaded Curtain. These rugs feature fabric-like patterning, from edge to edge, for a clean contemporary look and softly striated grounds for added depth and a handmade quality look. The palette includes indigo, chili pepper, curry, or an espresso/black combination. Additionally, Woven Impressions rugs carry the Wools of New Zealand brand and are woven on the company's own VanDeWiele loom in Eden, N.C. The rugs are all serged on the four sides. Sizes span area to room sizes and runners. A 5-foot-7-inch-by-7-foot-11-inch is set to retail for $899.

The company will be offering several new poly-acrylic blended looks in both hand-tufted and machine-made constructions and in patterns that range from traditional to youthful looks.

Kas will also be showing a new "super soft" shag, and will have new design additions to several of its more popular existing programs, including Cambridge, Casablanca and Monte Carlo in machine-made constructions and Loft, Transitions, Bali, Veranda indoor/outdoor, Emerald, Catalina, and Signature in handmade rugs.

The new Palladium shag collection was made to be an innovative reinterpretation of a classic shag rug. Featuring a strand-like texture and made in bold colors, Palladium shags are hand-woven in India of polyester.

Rugged elegance is what Loloi looked to achieve in making its new Tahoe collection of 100% cowhide rugs hand-stitched in China. Looks span lodge to Southwestern styles.

Whimsy is another new collection — this one employing hand-tufted, cut-and-loop, hard-twisted wool designs and bright colors. These rugs are made in India.

The transitional Foster collection out of India centers on color. It is made of a 70% wool and 30% viscose hand-tufted and hand-carved construction.

And the new Valencia collection achieves a value price point at a quality construction — Egyptian power-loomed polypropylene. Designs are traditional and transitional.

In line with its 35th anniversary this year, Momeni is set to launch its new "Momeni Concepts" program, which allows customers to create their own custom-made rug in the company's longtime and popular "New Wave" collection. On the website, customers can peruse 30 designs that are available in six sizes and more than 80 color ways. Also on the site is information about nearby dealers.

Also new for the Atlanta market are several collections — Bliss, Chelsea and Satara. And design additions have also been made to the existing Serengeti, Mahal and New Wave collections. Also, a fresh assortment of one-of-a-kind rugs will be available.

Celebrating its 30th year in business, Nourison is showing seven new collections representing 75 new skus that have been priced to retail from $299.

In addition, the company is also presenting new designs to 13 existing programs.

The new collections include power-loomed and handmade constructions.

Some highlights include: Capri, a pure wool power-loomed grouping that features silk-like accents achieved through the use of the company's own Luxcelle fiber; Splendor, handmade shag rugs made in China from a blend of PET recycled fiber, polypropylene and acrylic; Skyland, 100% wool and hand-tufted in India, these rugs are made in contemporary and transitional designs; and Elements, hand-loomed in India rugs that depict artistic designs enhanced with hand-carved effects.

Obeetee will be introducing new additions to its popular Royal Taj, Nizam, and Tapis collections in addition to the new "Gabbeh" designs.

And for the first time, Obeetee will introduce a wool/silk combination collection made in a unique finish. Titled Highland, this collection targets the higher end of the market and design professionals.

The new Shiraz collection of geometric designs is made to appeal to more moderately priced retailers.

Orian is building on the momentum of its 1.5 million point Shakespeare collection by expanding it with new designs and colorways. The collection comprises three palettes, each consisting of 12 colors.

Sphinx by Oriental Weavers will be introducing reversible pile rugs under the new Options and Options Sylk collections. Designed for use in both casual and formal living spaces, these hand-tufted wool rugs are available in an assortment of styles as well as textural variations in trend setting color palettes.

In addition, these collections will be the focus of a national advertising campaign that will be supported through newspaper and magazine ads, direct mail, and web-based promotions. And authorized retailers offering the reversible collections will be supported by a variety of promotional and merchandising tools. Sphinx has developed in-store merchandising vehicles, press ready advertisements, and consumer focused promotional materials that can be custom tailored to the dealer's needs.

Options rugs are set to retail for $599 for a 5-by-8 and Options Sylk pieces, which feature viscose highlights, are priced at $799 for a 5-by-8.

Among the highlights for Safavieh this market is the expansion of its program with celebrity designer Thom Filicia. The Thom Filicia Home Collection depicts a muted palette with splashes of bold color with contemporary patterns inspired by nature. All are indoor rugs and are set to retail for $625 in the 5-foot-6-inch-by-8-foot-6-inch size.

The company is also introducing 10 new designs to its hand-tufted Soho collection of transitional and contemporary looks.

Soho is made of premium New Zealand wool, and some are accented with viscose for silky luster. The collection is hand-tufted in India, and includes standard sizes as well as two runners and a 6-foot round rug. The suggested retail for the 5-by-8 size is $520.

The company's licensed Kathy Ireland Home International First Lady collection is being expanded with new traditional designs translated into vivid colors — reds, deep corals, warm greens, browns and turquoise blue. These rugs are machine woven in the United States with Shaw's EverTouch-branded recyclable nylon.

Also new to its Kathy Ireland Home is added looks to the Young Attitudes collection for children, tweens and teens. These rugs are made in the United States on 100% printed recyclable nylon.

To its high-end designer collection with Angela Adams, Shaw is introducing new woven EverTouch recyclable nylon designs slanted to contemporary and modern styling, as well as a new printed recyclable nylon featuring a textured base for additional texture and dimension.

The company is building on the recent momentum of its own Inspired Design value-priced line of machine-woven olefin rugs.

For the outdoors, there are two new collections — Garden Party, which is made using recycled content, and Seaside.

The Country Living collection of 100% wool rugs made in India include traditional braided, hand-hooked, braided jute, and flat-weave rugs that draw inspiration from American living. New pieces for market include Farmhouse Stripes, Country Jute and Inspired Classics as well as a broad new assortment of braided styles.

To its licensed program with Dick Idol, Surya is adding Big Sky, which is a 100% polypropylene machine-made rug, and the hand-tufted wool Santa Fe.

The Foundation collection offers a range of looks, from traditional to contemporary, that are hand tufted from 100% wool.

The Basilica collection, made in Turkey, is constructed of a blend of viscose and acrylic chenille.

The Canopy collection is inspired by nature, with palm, bamboo and exotic floral motifs. These poly-acrylic blend rugs are for the outdoors and are made to resistant to stains and weather effects.

The Amazon collection of hand tufted 100% polyester rugs takes its inspiration from the rainforest for which it is named.

United Weavers has partnered with t-shirt company Buckwear for a new licensed program of value-priced area rugs. The line features 10 rich earth tone colors United Weavers is using to interpret Buckwear's lodge icons in the new collection of machine-made heat-set olefin area rugs.

They will be available in five sizes ranging from a 2-by-3 scatters to 8-by-11 room-size rugs — the latter set to retail for $249.99.

Also new from United Weavers for market is the Persuasions collection of 3-by-5 accent rugs set to retail for $49.99. These four-color, cut-and-loop heat-set shag rugs target tween and teen girls. There are 28 designs set for the launch.
