Heritage Lace has obtained the licensing rights for an extensive line of well-crafted home décor and textiles associated with the award-winning Masterpiece series Downton Abbey, which will release its fourth season starting Jan. 5 on PBS.
The collection is based on items that might have been found in Downton Abbey, the fictional Yorkshire country estate at the center of the program. Components are being designed to capture the color, texture and tactile appeal of fine laces, sheers, linens, velvets, burlap, natural wovens and embroideries that would be right at home on the show's set, which is filmed at Highclere Castle in Hampshire, England.
"Our Downton Abbey collections are inspired by the rich cast of characters - both upstairs and down. Whether you lean towards ‘fancy & refined' or ‘clean & simple' the 2014 Downton Abbey product line is fun, fresh and certainly relevant to today's interiors," said Daniel De Cook, co-ceo of Heritage Lace.
The Downton Abbey products focus on specific characters and their particular station in life, Heritage Lace noted.
The "upstairs" character collections include Lady Mary, Dowager Countess of Grantham, and Lady Cora, each of which focuses on fine textiles, ladies accessories and linens and other high-quality items.
The "downstairs" character collections include Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Patmore. These assortments include more practical items such as kitchen towels, placemats and fabric baskets.
The Downton Abbey gifts collection also features iconic symbols such as the Abbey, the Union Jack and the Downton Abbey "DA" family crest.
The full line will be available for purchase online beginning Feb. 1, 2014, and dealers will start to retail the merchandise in early March 2014.
