Big Lots names new home gmm

Columbus, Ohio - A week after naming a new chief merchant, Big Lots has hired Martha Withers as senior vp, general merchandise manager for furniture and home décor - one of three new gmm positions the company announced today.
Withers previous retail posts include Stage Stores Inc., Stein Mart, and May Department Stores.
In addition, Bit Lots has promoted Trey Johnson to senior vp, gmm for food and consumables and hired Lucy Cindric as senior vp, gmm for seasonal, toys and electronics.
Prior to joining Big Lots, Johnson held food and consumables positions as Family Dollar Corporation, Sears Holding Corporation, Walmart Inc., and SuperValu. Cindric previously worked at Stage Stores Inc., Walmart Inc., May Company Department Stores, Foley's, and Dayton Hudson Corporation.
Last week, Big Lots announced the hiring of Richard Chene as executive vp, chief merchandising officer to oversee merchandising and global sourcing.
"These changes are a component of our long range strategic planning process where our objective is to deliver a comprehensive and detailed plan that carefully evaluates all aspects of our current operations, including our leadership team and organization structure," said David Campisi, ceo and president.
