Dollar General launches ecommerce

Goodlettsville, Tenn. - Dollar General yesterday went live with ecommerce, offering shoppers more than 1,000 products, including single items as well as larger quantities and even limited quantities of special buys, for purchase online.
The effort at www.dollargeneral.com has been in development for several months.
"Dollar General is excited to meet the growing demand for online convenience and value," said Rick Dreiling, chairman and ceo. "We have streamlined the online shopping experience, giving customers what they need, as well as what they want, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year."
Product categories include health and beauty products, cleaning supplies, baby items, toys, holiday merchandise, home décor, stationery, snacks and much more. At launch, the "Bed & Bath" section was sparsely populated, consisting of two shower curtain liners and a tub mat.
"At Dollar General, we are always looking for ways to meet our customers' needs," said Dreiling. "Launching an eCommerce site allows us to reach existing customers as well as customers who live outside our 35-state market area."
Customers can also use the website to learn about limited-time offers as well as to sign up for alerts to receive updates, coupons and special offers.
