Windham Weavers Unveils Fiesta Line

New York — Windham Weavers is straddling the past and the present through its new partnership with dinnerware brand Fiesta — the long recognized, color-rich American-made china from the Homer Laughlin China Company (Newell, W.V.)

The instantly recognizable Fiesta dinnerware line has been around since 1936, and its popularity continues — for both the vintage collectible pieces as well as new lines, which together offer consumers a broad spectrum of color options and tableware and serving items.

Windham's program in the license from Homer Laughlin will include tablecloths, placemats, runners, napkins, window tiers, valances, window panels, accent and area rugs, decorative pillows, pot holders, oven mitts, kitchen towels and aprons. It will be ready for shipping this fall and hit store shelves prior to the holiday season.

Richard Russo, president, Windham Weavers, told HTT that the first phase of products will target specialty chains and department stores, “to offer them coordinate pieces to their current Fiesta lines.”

The second phase will address collectors and will incorporate some of the brand's retired but popular bright colors.

“The Fiesta brand is one of the best run companies in the tabletop industry,” Russo said. “It is brand- and quality-conscious. It is exactly what we've been looking for to expand our product offerings.”

Imported from India, China, Pakistan and other countries, Windham's line will be made of cotton, poly-cotton blends, and jacquards. Designs include solid colors — like the Fiesta dishes — as well as stripes and plaids, and possibly other patterns still under development.

Retail price points are still being finalized, Russo added.

“As our consumers and collectors understand, products bearing the Fiesta brand name are subject to the highest quality standards,” said Joseph Wells III, president and ceo, Homer Laughlin. “We are confident that the Fiesta marketplace will be both protected and upheld as a result of the Windham Weavers license agreement.”

Added Rich Brinkman, vp, marketing and sourcing, Homer Laughlin: “The popularity of coordinated lifestyle collections has driven the market for Fiesta brand accessory products. The quality of the Windham Weavers product line will enhance the Fiesta brand experience for consumers.”

Windham is also the table linens licensee for Pfaltzgraff dinnerware.
