Wurl to lead home, hardlines at ShopKo

ShopKo Stores has promoted Doug Wurl to senior vp/gmm, hardlines and home, for the ShopKo division. Reporting to Kevin Easton, executive vp and chief merchandising officer, Wurl assumes responsibility for the merchandising and profitability of linens, domestics, housewares and home decor, in addition to his merchandising duties in seasonal merchandise and the electronics, paint, hardware and automotive categories. Wurl joined the retailer in 2000 as divisional vp of soft home categories including linens, domestics and social expressions. He was promoted to senior vp/gmm of home in December 2001.
"Doug's leadership has served ShopKo well, and in assuming greater responsibility we will leverage his experience and knowledge across more of our merchandising organization," said Easton. "This promotion is one more step toward the successful integration of the merchandising and support functions which began last month."
