Global Home Show Set for Vegas

The second annual Global Home Textiles show here this week will showcase some 300 manufacturers of various sizes from 14 countries looking to make contact with U.S. wholesalers, importers and retailers.
"As a policy matter they should encourage more and more companies to participate in this show so that they would also benefit in cutting down their cost of traveling all around the world in sourcing new products," said Alok Bidasaria, president of Bidasaria Exports of India. "We in particular are looking forward to meeting retailers as we have a lot of solutions for their needs."
Towel manufacturer Chakra, from Turkey, will be looking to hook up with high-end retailers and better chain stores. As raw material prices have climbed, the company has adjusted its minimums, said Figen Alkan Atmaca, foreign trade manager. "We have changed quantities and target a different level of customers."
This week's show runs May 6-8 run concurrently with the new Global Home Décor show and the established Gourmet Housewares Show at the Sands Expo (all produced by George Little Management) as well as the National Hardware Show, Lawn and Garden World and the Homewares Show (all produced by Reed Exhibitions, which is owned by HTT's parent company) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The event will also include sessions focusing on the state of home products in Egypt, Italy, Pakistan, China and India. The sessions will address recent advancements within each sector, manufacturing capabilities and related technologies.
At the close of opening day, GLM and HTT will co-sponsor a Viva Las Vegas party at the Sands Expo 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is complimentary for all show participants, though advance registration is requested. To register, visitglobalhometextiles.com/design/showinfo/programs.html.
