Revman rolls out Nicole Miller lineup
Marvin Lazaro -- Home Textiles Today, February 4, 2002
Further immersing itself in the world of designer home fashions, Revman Industries unveiled its new Nicole Miller licensed line of products last week.
The new license joins an already powerful lineup currently manufactured by Revman, Tommy Hilfiger Home and Laura Ashley Home.
Spanning the bedroom and bathroom, but with a host of other home accessories including storage items and lighting, the two lines are geared toward a younger, edgier consumer, in addition to more sophisticated and modern shoppers.
"I wanted the collection to be reflective of me and my personality," Miller told Home Textiles Today. "Many of the patterns that were used are based on a prior print used in my ready-to-wear clothing line.
"One thing I definitely wanted was for the home collection to reflect the whimsy of the women's [clothing] collection."
For the bed, the Goodnight Kiss collection and the Nicole Miller collection will be offered. Goodnight Kiss will feature 250-count ring-spun combed cotton sheets with an all-cotton outerbed, while the self-titled collection will have 400-count sateen cotton sheets with a 230-count sateen or cotton voile embroidered outerbed.
In the Goodnight Kiss category, Retro Roses, with roses and a leopard print; Blue Safari, in cool tones like aqua and purple; and Bamboo Tropics, with its distinct tropical flavor, will all feature signature Miller looks and twists.
Under the Nicole Miller Collection name, Paisley Passion, Vintage Lace and Potpourri are all available. Paisley Passion is designed to convey sophisticated elegance, while Vintage Lace is Miller's homage to her bridal line. Embellishments, embroideries and a variety of fabrics make up the signature look of Potpourri.
"She's an original and very distinctive," said Rich Roman, president of Revman. "We definitely wanted and needed someone who was not afraid to make a statement."
"We felt Nicole's fit was right here," commented Bud Kornheim, president of Nicole Miller. "This says to retailers, 'Here's something very different and in no way is it boring.'"
Expanding into other areas of the home, Revman will also offer a complete line of bath accessories. Three of the collections — Retro Roses, Bamboo Tropics and Vintage Lace — will all coordinate with the bed collections of the same name, while a fourth, Bathing Beauties, is currently a standalone. Shower curtains, acrylic bath accessories and embellished bath, hand and wash towels are all offered.
Hanging shelves, shoe shelves, shoe organizers, garment bags, soft-sided sweater boxes, laundry totes and ironing board covers, as well as printed lamp shades will round out the initial offering.
"We're not going into this with any predisposed distribution. We're open to discussion," said Roman about Revman's marketing plans, adding that the goal was to sell a Nicole Miller lifestyle. Complementing that is the license itself, which Roman and Kornheim characterized as "all encompassing" and with opportunities yet to be explored.
