Frankfurt, Germany - Ambiente will hold a variety of events during its 2014 show here from Feb. 7-11 to celebrate the show's first non-European partner country in its history.
Japan, next year's show partner, will also send more exhibitors to the 2014 event, with more than 100 booked into space compared to 78 at the 2013 fair. Among them will be Fuji Cutlery, Kai Corporation, Kyocera, Mark's Tokyo Edge, Master Cutlery, Miyabi and Noritake.
"The world is only familiar with a fraction of Japanese culture and tradition. Through ourdesign, I want to show Ambiente visitors from all over the world the unknown side of Japan," said Yukio Hashimoto, designer and Ambassador of the ‘Partner Country Japan project.

Hashimoto will curate a special presentation called Super Ennichi, or "happy festival," to highlight traditional production techniques in Hall 4.1. Daily demonstrations will cover everyday art, such as origami and gift wrapping with furoshiki, a Japanese cloth.

On the Feb. 10 Partner Country Day, several Japanese companies will make presentations and
hold events such as knife sharpening, sake, sushi and tea tastings, samurai performances and o-mikuji fortune telling.

There will also be a corporate panel discussion on how companies can get into the Japanese market.
