Pearl River, NY - Custom window fashions manufacturer Hunter Douglas said that over the next 12 months it will exit its remaining business with independent, third-party fabricators and move to direct distribution through its Hunter Douglas Fabrication Division.
The division already supports and services 85% of the Hunter Douglas brand business out of three large custom fabrication facilities in Cumberland, Md.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and West Sacramento, Calif. In addition, the division operates five customer service centers and 11 dealer training and service centers. The division is also supported by eight Hunter Douglas brand manufacturing and R&D facilities in the U.S.
"We have had extraordinarily close, successful and long-term relationships with each of our independent fabricator partners," said Marv Hopkins, president and ceo.
The move, he added, will allow Hunter Douglas to "speak with one voice and become even more closely connected to the entire Hunter Douglas network of dealers and designers so as to more accurately anticipate and rapidly respond to their needs and to new opportunities as they arise."
