Cost Plus World Market grows textiles assortment
Staff Staff -- Home Textiles Today, May 6, 2002
Specialty retailer Cost Plus World Market recently expanded its textiles assortment and added bedroom furniture to its assortment.
Bedding accessories such as duvets, comforters and shams offer a "unique look," said Murray Dashe, president, said at the Lehman Brothers Retail Seminar here last week. The retailer already carried rugs, decorative pillows, table linens and kitchen textiles, along with food, wine and baskets. Dashe later told HTT that the bed linen assortment is very limited and is in no way an effort to compete with other retailers. The bedding serves only to accessorize the furniture, he said, and expresses an exotic look from the Far East that fits in with the store's merchandise.
Now with 155 stores in 20 states, Cost Plus will add a DC next month in Virginia, which will handle the majority of the retailer's skus. Cost Plus also expects its operating margins for 2002 to hit 6.5 percent.
