High Point, N.C. -- Glen Raven Custom Fabrics continues its design leadership with the introduction of five new Sunbrella fabric groups during the Showtime Fabric Fair in High Point.
With a focus on trend-right colors, designs and textures, these new fabrics meet a variety of price points, coordinate with existing Sunbrella patterns and enable customers to extend fabric lines effectively and efficiently.
“Our goal during Showtime is to help customers reinvent their fabric offerings with new patterns that coordinate with existing styles,” said Gina Wicker, design and creative director for Glen Raven Custom Fabrics. “Given today’s challenging economy, we believe this strategy will resonate with customers.”
Playing on the calming influence of nature is the Pistachio Group, which features Renewal Linden, a transitional climbing leaf with textured weave effects rendered in charcoal and soft green. Next is the complex Palace Stone, set in brown, taupe and beige. Knox Linden brings simple elegance in a chambre plain weave with an all-over dotted effect in soft green. Strata Linden provides an elegant body cloth, also in soft green with slub wheat highlights. Adding dimension to the group is Caswell Ash, a chambre stripe with a dotted weave effect in dark and light grey. Velvet Taupe exudes elegance with a luxurious texture.
“Our Pistachio Group highlights the new green that emerged from Color Marketing Group and was prevalent at European trade shows this past year,” Wicker said.
The second introduction is the Mist Group, rendered in blue and white combinations with an emphasis on bright whites. Karena Mist is a transitional floral in spa blue and white. A chenille, Plush Spa, adds texture with a hint of cocoa. Palace Lichen features an intricate weave in brown, spa and beige tones.
“The Mist Group is ideal for our customers who have done well with the Cocoa-Spa Blue combinations in recent seasons,” Wicker said. “We refreshed the palette this season with a near white ground that also highlights the outstanding cleanability of Sunbrella fabrics.”
Continuing the Mist offerings is the satin and plain weave stripe, Edgecombe Mist, with a textured effect in spa, vellum and beige with hints of green. Tag Surf features a delicate dot design achieved with a boucle yarn in spa on a vellum ground. The group is grounded by Spectrum Eggshell, a solid plain cloth in white.
Spicing up the fabric offerings is the new Solaris Group, which trends towards happy shades of melon and heathery wheat. The fabric Splendor Fiesta is a traditional floral in a mix of wheat, gold and orange. Galactic Solar is a satin and plain weave stripe that pops with colors of green, gold and brown. Tag Mustard features a boucle dot in wheat on a gold ground. A multicolored stripe, Mystic Fiesta exudes cheerfulness in red, orange and gold tones. Meridian Dove is a go-to plain weave in a Vellum colorway. The twill fabric Flagship Persimmon is another plain weave, this time featuring the new Tomate yarn color, which serves as a bridge between orange and pink.
“Fabrics in the Solaris Group bring warmth and happiness to a room,” Wicker said. “When you combine punchier colors in the orange-red family with warm neutrals, the overall effect is toned down a bit and the pink-cast hues do not come across as overly feminine.”
The Pewter Group draws attention to a new selection of cooler neutrals. The fabric Vibe Metallic is central to the group, with a transitional floral design that incorporates chenille yarns and is rendered in grey, beige and wheat. Olympus Moonbean features a mid-scale stripe with a saw tooth weave effect in grey and gold with reddish brown highlights.
“While the focus of the Pewter Group is on cool neutrals, the use of wheat warms them up so they are not too icy,” Wicker said. “Whimsical patterns such as Vibe Metallic, which features a luxurious chenille yarn for texture and softness, make the collection more livable.”
The textural Plush Oatmeal is a chenille plain cloth in Vellum with a hint of Cocoa. The dot design Tag Parchment features boucle dots in beige on a vellum ground. The Pewter Group is grounded by the luxurious Velvet Wheat and the traditional plain weave Spectrum Eggshell, an economical option.
The Parchment Group redefines the neutral category with luxurious designs that are cleanable as well as beautiful. Gotcha Parchment is a contemporary design of overlapping circles featuring boucle yarns. The whimsical Polka Buff is a striped multi-colored dot that uses boucle yarns to separate the stripes inside the dot. Another dot design, Tag Wren, features multi-colored boucle polka dots on a beige ground. Adding dimension is Caswell Ash, a chambre stripe with a simple dotted weave stripe effect in vellum and beige. The collection is grounded by Meridian Maize, a basic plain weave in wheat, and Velvet Antique Beige, a luxurious velvet with the look and feel of mohair and the durability for which Sunbrella fabrics are know.
“We hope our customers will notice that our luxurious Sunbrella Velvets continue to offer design flexibility, appearing throughout our new trend groups in colors that many of our customers already have in their lines,” Wicker said. “The fabrics we are showing are ideal for indoor or outdoor applications and are as varied as the extensive customer base we are working with today.”
In addition to a gorgeous new fabric offering, Glen Raven revealed its new Sunbrella showroom located at 336 South Wrenn Street, directly across the street from its previous location. The second floor showrooms have an abundance of natural light, exposed brick and rustic hardwood floors.
“Our new space is fully decorated with Sunbrella fabrics and furnishings, and is sure to become a can’t-miss stop for customers visiting Showtime and Furniture Market in the future,” Wicker said.
Glen Raven revolutionized the way the world thinks about how beautiful fabrics perform with the introduction of the Sunbrella brand in 1961.
