Brentwood settles labor issue with union

Carson, Calif. – Brentwood Originals, the leading decorative pillow supplier in the country, and the United Steelworkers Union have reached an agreement, bringing to a halt the month-long workers’ strike at one of the company’s facilities, Brentwood’s president and ceo Loren Sweet told HTT today.

On March 7, about 180 workers went on strike on wages and benefits issues at the company’s Youngstown, Ohio facility. Since then, Brentwood had been working out service arrangements with its retail customers.

“Brentwood is pleased to announce that the United Steelworkers Union has voted to accept our latest contract offer effective immediately,” Sweet said. “While we are pleased that we were able to maintain our service levels to all customers, we are happy to have this situation behind us. We are confident the contract is a fair and equitable.”

He added that Brentwood expects to be “up to full operational ability and proceed with our normal course of business” within the coming two weeks.

“We value our employees and are pleased to have them back,” Sweet concluded.
