Stanley Kahn passes
Retail Editor 1 -- Home Textiles Today, November 1, 2013
New York - Services were held here last Sunday for Stanley Kahn, the long-time "inside" member of the Kahn family that owned and operated Croscill Home Fashions for much of the past four decades. He died on Oct. 25. His age and cause of death were not announced.
Stanley Kahn, brother to former Croscill president Mike Kahn and uncle to Mike's sons David and Doug, who ran the company after Mike's retirement, was the quintessential inside manager, taking care of costing and other merchandising functions while others had more high profile roles with customers and the industry alike.
Soft spoken and almost always overshadowed by the admitted "louder" members of the family, Stanley Kahn was an integral part of the company's rapid growth from a modest curtain resource to one of the 10 largest suppliers in the industry with annual sales of over $300 in a full range of products for bed, bath and window. He retired when Croscill was sold to Patriarch Holdings and merged with Excell Glenoit several years ago.
Besides his brother Mike and his wife Joan and his nephew Doug, he is survived by his son Gary and his wife Kristina, his grandson Oskar and his ex-wife Maxine. David Kahn died in 2005.
The family has asked that donations in his name be made to American Friends of Magen David Adom, www.afmda.org.
