Los Angeles - At its upcoming 2012 Spirit of Life dinner event, City of Hope will honor two leaders from the home furnishings industry with the Spirit of Life Award.
Scheduled in tandem with the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point, N.C., this year's event will take place on April 22 at 6 p.m. at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.
Said to be its most prestigious philanthropic honor, City of Hope's 2012 Spirit of Life award will be given to Jeff Seaman and Bob Sherman, chief executive officers of Rooms To Go and Serta Mattress Company, respectively.
"Both have raised funds and heightened awareness for City of Hope within the National Home Furnishings Industry," City of Hope noted.
City of Hope is a research, treatment and education center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.
Attendance to the event is expected to be strong, and tickets are expected to be sold out soon, said Kevin O'Connor, chairman of City of Hope's Spirit of Life campaign, thanks to "two very strong honorees and our outstanding dinner committee, all of whom have increased the visibility of this long-standing High Point tradition."
"I am incredibly proud of this industry's amazing support," added Jena Hall, co-chair of City of Hope's National Home Furnishings Industry organization. "For the past 50 years, we have provided unrivaled support for this institution to continue its fight against cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. I encourage anyone who is interested in attending the dinner to contact City of Hope immediately."
Dinner tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Donations to the event will continue to be accepted, as will journal space. Ads for the dinner journal are due to City of Hope by April 9.
