Dollar General's Guion to retire

Goodlettsville, Tenn. -- Dollar General Corporation announced that Kathleen Guion, division president of store operations and store development, plans to retire from the company next summer.
"Over the last eight years, Kathleen has been instrumental in helping build a stronger Dollar General that is well positioned for the future," said Rick Dreiling, chairman and ceo. "She has provided effective and innovative leadership of store operations and store development during a period of tremendous growth for Dollar General. Kathleen is a world-class operator; and, more importantly, she has been an outstanding business partner and a great friend to me. On behalf of Dollar General, I would like to recognize and thank Kathleen for her many accomplishments and her service to Dollar General and its customers."
Her effective retirement date is July 31, 2012.
Before assuming her current role in November 2005, Guion served as executive vice president of store operations. Prior to joining Dollar General in 2003, she was the president and ceo of Duke and Long Distributing Company. Earlier in her career, Guion has held a variety of operations and general management posts, including president and coo of E-Z Serve convenience stores and as divisional vp at 7-Eleven.
