Freestanding window coverings are a new category for Sunham Home Fashions as it debuts its also new company headquarters at 136 Madison Avenue.

Each of the company's product segments are clearly laid out, including rugs, towels, and decorative bedding with coordinating window fashions, quilts, an expanded sheet assortment and an Italian designed/Chinese made bedding collection called Italian Collection.

In the bath section, there are three main trends. Serene is a spa look with a cooler color palette highlighting pale amethyst, as well as some sparkle created by yarns. The collection uses polyester yarn systems that produce inherent quick dry/stain resistant product.

New Spirit is a retro influenced style group with bohemian overtones in fresh, clean colors, while Instinct is a polypropylene construction for indoor/outdoor use.

There are 13 towel techniques embracing Supima, Pima and Egyptian cotton fibers.

In decorative bedding, there are three lifestyle segments – Global, Urban and Traditional – each in a good/better/best pricing format. Each family has three to four styles in decorative bedding as well as quilts.

The company has expanded its sheet business with sourcing both in India and China. Constructions range from 300 to 800 thread count, and Sunham has replenishment capabilities in New Jersey.

Looking at the changes in the marketplace, Jane Bognacki, president, remarked, “We can't undermine our relationships with our suppliers. We have to produce product with more value and service for our customers at the same time.”

Business, she added, “is very transparent now, and the importance of relationships with both suppliers and customers is critical.”
