Brooklyn, N.Y. - West Elm introduced an exclusive collaboration with fashion designer Steven Alan, who is known for his subversive take on classic apparel.
The first collaboration of its kind for both the fashion designer and the home furnishings brand, Steven Alan Stripes includes bedding, rugs, vases and furniture for every room and launches in stores and online this month. Products are handcrafted by artisans in India, Nicaragua and Haiti, utilizing traditional craft techniques.
The handcrafted bedding collection is inspired by classic shirt stripes and designed in collaboration with Eco Tasar, a cooperative that supports rural Indian spinners and weavers. Striped duvets come in deep coral, golden gate or midnight while quilts come in pewter or India ink and the bedding retails for $29-$189
The rugs are handwoven by Indian artisans and dyed using a traditional gabbeh technique, characterized by variegated color for an ombre effect. Colors are midnight, ivory, or platinum/gold and retail runs $79-$849.
