Dyson introduces more powerful cordless vac

New York - Sir James Dyson, founder and chief engineer of Dyson and sort of a cult figure for making vacuums "cool," was on the set of CBS This Morning to discuss his new cordless vacuum cleaner, DC 59, which the company says is as powerful as a corded vacuum.
One of the hosts volunteered that she already owned a similar model. Dyson informed her that the new vacuum is twice as powerful, thanks to its 350 watt motor, which has a higher wattage than DC35 or DC44 and helps produce more powerful suction. The DC 59 also has two layers of cyclones and a re-engineered nickel manganese cobalt battery.
The vacuum will retails for $499.99 and comes with a two-year warranty; however it is not available yet. The Dyson web site said it is coming soon.
Sir Dyson, who is on the short list of five candidates to join the UK's engineering hall of fame, also spoke this morning about a life-long desire to invent new products and improve upon the way people clean. "I deliberately chose vacuum cleaners because they were boring and no one was developing any new technology," he said.
