Lowe's comes up roses

Mooresville, N.C. - Home fashions, storage and cleaning products were all under-performers at Lowe's during the fourth quarter, but sales of core home improvement categories helped the home center chain turn in solid results.
For the quarter ended Jan. 31, sales rose 5.6% to $11.7 billion, with comps up 3.9%. Net earnings climbed 6.3% to $306 million, or 29 cents per share.
For the full fiscal year, sales increased 5.7% to $53.4 billion, with comps up 4.8%. Net earnings jumped 16.7% to $2.3 billion, or $2.14 per share.
