GOTS updates the rules

New standard for organic cotton certification available by download

Retail Editor 2, March 5, 2014

New York - The Global Organic Textiles Standard, also known as GOTS, as of March 1 has newly published rules for textiles processing involving organic fibers.

Dubbed 4.0, the new version defines criteria through the full processing chain for home textiles and apparel, including spinning, knitting, weaving, wet processing, manufacturing, and trading.

The standard applies to textiles made from a minimum of 70% certified organic fibers.

According to GOTS, the new requirements are practical and technically achievable "even in large scale industrial textile production and for mass market brands and retailers."
