Gennette promoted to prez at Macy’s

Cincinnati – Macy’s chief merchandising officer Jeffrey Gennette has been promoted to president of Macy’s Inc.
Gennette will continue to be based in New York and will report to company chairman and ceo Terry Lundgren. In addition to overseeing Macy’s merchandising, Gennette will lead marketing and macys.com as well as Macy’s Private Brands division.
He has held the chief merchant position for five years. He served as chairman and ceo of Macy’s West in 2008, and was chairman and ceo of Macy's Northwest in Seattle from December 2005 to February 2008. Before that, Gennette was executive vp and director of stores for Macy's Central in Atlanta and svp/general merchandise manager at Macy's West. Gennette joined Macy’s West in 1983 as an executive trainee and held various merchant and store management positions in that division. His career has also included positions as a store manager for FAO Schwarz and director of stores for Broadway Stores.
