Simon named president at Overstock

Johnson named chairman of the board

Salt Lake City – A little over a decade ago, Stormy Simon walked into Overstock’s offices looking for a temp job. Today she has been promoted from co-president to president.

"For twelve years Stormy has been our secret weapon," said ceo Patrick Byrne.

Simon created the company’s “Have You Discovered the Secret of the Big O?” ad campaign and many others, he noted. During her tenure, she has overseen marketing and built up the retailer’s customer service division. For the past year she has taken on responsibility for supply chain, warehouse, international and human resources.

“Most importantly, Stormy is an empath who, like Star Trek's Deanna Troi, wanders through our organization psychically tuning it up wherever it is needed. I am just along for Stormy's ride," Byrne added.

In other news, Jonathan Johnson will move from being executive vice chairman to chairman of the board of directors, replacing Byrne in the role. Mark Griffin, senior vp and general counsel, has been named corporate secretary, a position Johnson previously held. David Nielsen will continue in the role of co-president and his responsibilities will be enlarged
