Stein Mart creates new leadership slot

Jacksonville, Fla. – Stein Mart has created a new post called the office of the president, appointing two executives to fill it: the retailer’s chief operating officer and its chief merchant.
Hunt Hawkins was named evp/coo in 2011. He joined Stein Mart in 1994 as senior vp for human resources. He became evp of operations in 2005 and evp/chief administration officer in 2007.
Brian Morrow joined the company in 2010 as evp/chief merchandising officer. Prior to that, Morrow served as svp/gmm with Macy's North/Marshall Field's from February 2005 to May 2008 and held the same position with Mervyn's from May 2008 to October 2008. Morrow served as evp/gmm with Macy's West from October 2008 to May 2009.
Both men will continue to report to Stein Mart ceo Jay Stein.
Stein said the promotions “are a testament to their leadership that has built a team that has produced seven consecutive quarters of comp store gains, a dramatic departure from the achievements of past management, and reflect the confidence the board and I have in them."
