John Fraley wins N.C. assembly primary

Raleigh, N.C. — Longtime textiles executive John Fraley won the Republication primary last week for the 95th District seat in the State General Assembly and, according to a report in the Mooresville Tribune, the victory virtually assures his election in November since there is no Democratic opponent.

Fraley defeated incumbent Robert Brawley in a close election by 105 votes last Tuesday for the seat, which represents southern Iredell County near Charlotte.

Fraley is a veteran of the textiles industry, having worked at Cannon, West Point Stevens, Excell Home Fashions and most recently as coo for Home Source International. He is currently ceo of Fraley Global Home Inc. This is believed to be his first run at elective office.

In a statement to the Tribune newspaper, Fraley said he was "humbled and honored" and that he was running to "provide the people of Southern Iredell County with effective businesslike leadership in Raleigh."
