Walmart.com ceo Anderson leaves

Fernando Madeira stepping up

Bentonville, Ark. – Walmart said that Joel Anderson, ceo of the company’s U.S. website since 2011, was leaving.

Published reports said that Anderson will be taking the position of president of Five Below, leading the teen discounter’s merchandising, stores and marketing.

In addition, a report in the New York Times said that there was another change in Walmart’s e-commerce leadership. The retailer promoted Fernando Madeira, the president of Walmart’s Latin American e-commerce division. Madeira is now in a charge of Walmart.com’s domestic and Latin America teams.

In addition, according to the article, Walmart.com has been beefing up its e-commerce personnel over the last year and a half with the hiring of 1,000 employees in Silicon Valley. The retailer opened three new e-commerce centers recently as well.
