JCPenney appeals Macy's, Martha Stewart ruling

Plano, Texas -- JCPenney has filed an appeal of a recent ruling by a New York state court judge, which said that it had interfered with a contract between Macy's and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia by selling the celebrity's home products, according to a report in Reuters.
On June 16, New York State Supreme Court Justice Jeffrey Oing ruled that JCPenney had indeed interfered with the 2006 contract when it struck its own deal for Stewart-branded merchandise in 2011. The ruling gave JCPenney the option of appealing, which it has done despite expectations that ceo Mike Ullman would try to put the Martha issue behind him.
