Design firm Carter McGuyer launches at Crate & Barrel
July 11, 2014-- Home Textiles Today,
Muscle Shoals, Ala. – A new collection of utensils launched exclusively at Crate & Barrel represents a milestone for a housewares design firm.
After years of dreaming up designs for other companies, Carter McGuyer, an Alabama-based designer, is putting his firm’s name on a product for the first time with the launch of Matte-Shiny Stainless-Steel Utensils.
McGuyer and wife Brandi Pennington McGuyer officially opened the Carter McGuyer Design Group in 2006. One of their most successful housewares designs was the iconic look for Microplane graters. “These graters are in all major retailers sold around the world, used by celebrity chefs, and have sold in the millions,” said McGuyer.
The Matte-Shiny collection features a contemporary look and offers a spatula, spoon, ladle, and measuring cups in stainless steel with ergonomically angled, fingerprint-resistant matte handles and polished, functional heads. The line is dishwasher safe and ranges from $12.95 -$29.95.
Utensils are a crowded category, but McGuyer said it was “a natural starting place for us with Crate & Barrel. There are a lot on the market, however we set out to develop timeless, high quality pieces that work well. These really do look great in a kitchen.”
Look for additional products to launch later this year in several different categories, he said.
