Bon-Ton names Bufano new prez, ceo

York, Pa. -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. has appointed Kathryn Bufano as its new president and ceo, effective Aug. 25. She will also be elected to the board of directors.
Bufano will replace Brendan Hoffman, who elected not to renew his three-year employment agreement, and is set to resign as president and ceo and board member when Bufano assumes the posts.
Since August 2010, Bufano has served as president and chief merchandising officer of Belk Inc., and previously she was the company’s president, merchandising and marketing from January 2008.
Bufano started her retail career working in various positions in the Macy's East and Lord & Taylor divisions of Federated Department Stores. She then moved to Dress Barn Inc. as the apparel store’s president, chief merchandising officer.
From 2002 to 2003 she was evp, gm of Soft-lines for Sears Roebuck & Company.
After that stint, from 2003-2006 she pursued higher education.
Thereafter, she became ceo of Vanity Shops from 2006 to January 2008.
