Corsicana, Texas — Chris Baker has been named ceo of Corsicana Mattress Co., one of the Top 10 mattress producers in the U.S.
He succeeds Mark Kuchenrither, who left Corsicana earlier this year after a one-year-stint at the company, according to a report from H&TT sister publication Furniture Today.
“I am excited to join the company from my board of director position to execute the strategy we built as a team and look forward to continuing our tradition of providing high quality products and world class service to our customers,” Baker said.
Before joining Corsicana, Baker served as ceo of Hollander Sleep Products, a top supplier of utility bedding products under a number of well-known brands, including Simmons Beautyrest, Ralph Lauren and Nautica.
Prior to that, Baker was president of fashion bedding for WestPoint Home. Previously, held several positions at Springs Industries, including president of the basic bedding division, senior vp of sales for the Walmart/Sam’s account and executive vp and president of the bath division.
Baker began his career in textiles – after several years at Arthur Andersen & Company – as an internal audit manager at Pillowtex Corporation. There, he climbed through the ranks to become president of operations and a member of the board of directors and executive committee. His career also included The Company Store, where he was vp of operations.
Corsicana operates 10 U.S. production facilities and serves more than 5,000 customers. In addition to seven promotional collections, its portfolio of brands includes Sleep Inc., American Bedding, International Bedding Co. and Spring Air.
