Gordmans’ final exit move set for mid summer
June 19, 2017,
Omaha, Neb. – In its final move, Gordmans is preparing to close its headquarters offices here.
Come late July, the regional department store chain – which in March filed for voluntary bankruptcy protection – will vacate the two top floors of the Aksarben Village office building where it had signed a 15-year lease in 2014.
Stage Stores, the Houston-based retail company that owns and operates about 800 stores under the nameplates Bealls, Peebles, Goody’s, Stage in 42 U.S. states, in late March won an auction for select Gordmans assets – including 50 of its stores.
Gordmans has since shuttered the acquired locations, but has remained at its headquarter office to help Stage Stores during the transition period. Stage Stores does not need the headquarters offices, prompting Gordmans to close them by late July.
