Gucci’s cats, tigers and bees come home

Luxury label adds décor to its line

GucciSecaucus, N.J. -- Gucci is dressing a different kind of muse.

Come September, the haute couture house will roll out a home décor line of home furnishings and accessories designed by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

Gucci made the announcement Wednesday on Instagram.

The home textiles component includes needlepoint decorative pillows featuring colorful interpretations of signature Gucci icons, including the bee, cat and tiger. The pillows are also embellished with tassels and other trims.

Gucci Décor will be available on Gucci.com as well as select Gucci and specialty stores.

This home décor line is a first for the luxury Italian fashion brand, which launched in the late 19 th Century in Florence as father-and-sons business designing, making and retailing upscale leather handbags, shoes and other accessories.

According to several news reports, Gucci hinted recently about its Décor line at the 2017 Cruise show held in the cloisters of Westminster Abbey in London. For event guests, Michele designed velvet and needlepoints pillows that were used as seating cushions and parting gifts.
