MoreTextile highlighting tech and eco in bedding, bath

Guimarães, Portugal – Portuguese bedding and bath manufacturer MoreTextile is lining up a slate of introductions for next week’s New York Home Fashions Market.

“We are a vertical company – spinning milling, weaving, finishing and confection,” said Ise Rodrigues, innovation director and quality assurance manager.

MoreTextile will debut its Dynamic Color collection for the U.S. market in sheets, top of bed, bath towels and beach towels. The thermosensitive linens are made using pigments that change color in contact with different temperatures, including body temperature. The collection is already in distribution in Europe.

“It’s fun for kids and grownups to play with,” she said. “When we have people in our office its very interesting to see them reactive to it.”

Also coming to market:

  • Eco Heather bedding and bath, “a completely new sustainable home textile,” said Rodrigues. MoreTextile reuses fibers from its spinning mill waste to create a new blended yarn. The resulting products are durable with a smooth texture.
  • MoreColorGreen bedding and bath, which takes the process a step further by using cotton and linen waste fibers from the spinning mill and adding to the blend 30% recycled polyester. The process has been certified by the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
  • 100% Lyocell sheets. Available in solid color, yarn dye or print sheets, the “colors became shinier with Lyocell fibers and you will always feel fresh because of its natural anti-bacterial properties, said Rodrigues.
  • A bedding collection who blend includes Outlast, which are composed of micro encapsulated phase change materials, capable of stabilizing the microclimate inside the bedding.

Ahead of market, MoreTextile will take part in a Sept. 7 showcase of Portuguese goods from gourmet, furniture and home décor producers from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Lofts at Prince,177 Prince Street, 6th Floor in New York.

During New York Home Fashions Week, Sept. 11-14, it will show at The London Hotel, 151 W. 45 th St.
