Walmart.com plans to play offense in home, apparel

Designed site will launch in first quarter

Bentonville, Ark. – Walmart.com will launch an initiative in the coming months to elevate its online home and apparel business.

At the Walmart 2017 Investment Community Meeting this morning, Walmart ecommerce ceo Marc Lore told analysts the a number of programs are in the works to attract more premium brands to the site.

Other takeaways:

The Jet.com division, where the core consumer tends to be more urban and affluent, is also working to pull in more premium brands. Jet now has over 1 million home skus.

Over the past year, marketplaces housed on Walmart.com have grown from15 million products to over 60 million products and remain a growth vehicle going forward.

“In the future we believe shopping will be more personalized, immersive and on demand,” said Lore. “Look for us to play offense and to continue to innovate.”
